Units/Factions Edit

I've been strugling with the same question when I first came to this Wikia. But when I saw that there were pages for units that were relativelly common, I just stuck with the idea. I suppose we could merge them, and add at the end that the unit is available to x factions, but we need Byzantine's permission. Andreioplst 17:16, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

The very reason I came to this wiki was I couldn't stand the way they merged everything over on the other Total War sites. So, the separate pages stay and will remain the permanent layout for unit articles.--Byzantine Latinkon 23:46, February 24, 2011 (UTC)

I'm Waiting Edit

May I help you? --Byzantine Latinkon 19:57, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

I have already contacted your IP with a message about this. Log out of your account, and you should see it. And for Shogun: Total War, frankly, combining them into one page goes against the established wiki guidelines here. You may favor that idea, but I don't. Same thing with the Roman factions from Rome: Total War. Brutii, Scipii, and Julii are different only in terms of color and we still have separate articles for them. The factions may be more general in Shogun: Total War, but, in my opinion, that's not a good reason to merge them all.
Thank you for your patience in contacting me about this matter, but that is the final word.

Re:Edit

I'm going to wait until I have Total War Wiki:Create article finished. YuriKaslov 19:48, March 8, 2011 (UTC)

RE:Edit

I never removed them from the damn page!!! I changed the wording because of Gaul, not the Franks. YuriKaslov 19:47, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Re: Edit

Thanks for that compliment on my talk page. Or was that a bot? Can't really tell. Anyway, sorry I can't contribute to the Shogun 2 part of the Wikia, but I only own Medieval, Rome, and Medieval II. Do tell, what did you mean to put in the "introduction" section on the Trebia page? Andreioplst 19:59, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

S2TW factionsEdit

Um, they ARE stubs. The game is so unbearably laggy that I have to spend like two hours to play through one turn and four battles. I cannot add any more information than I have at my disposal, which right about now is nil. And you said you don't even have the game. So please, don't bother me with that nonsense. I'm not "making stubs", I'm creating articles on subjects I have no knowledge on -- and there is not anything wrong with that. Other people will fill it out and remove the {{Stub}} tag in time. Right now I'm dealing with compatability and stability issues. The stub tag is there for a good reason; to show that we recognize the pages are not long enough to provide extensive information, and that we need other people to fill out the article. That's what a wiki is here for. YuriKaslov 20:33, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Just give a hoot and I'll help in any way I can. A Lonely Nomad 22:03, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

Block Edit

Yes, a full site ban for a user with just one count of vandalism or more on their record. No warnings unless the user is an established one who has already made some productive edits. It isn't as if I've never been willing to try it, and it's never been worth anyone's time.--Byzantine Latinkon 00:20, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

As I've said, I've literally tried it before. The troll pretended he didn't understand English and went on vandalizing page after page after page. By my third warning, I had lost my patience and blocked him for 3,000 years. And on at least three wikis I can name, there was never any warning given unless the user seemed well-meaning or just unproductive, instead of an outright vandal. --Byzantine Latinkon 00:26, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Shogun II: Total War Edit

As for the name change you suggested, I think I should leave it. Wikipedia uses that name, as does the Wikia Staff member JoePlay, who clearly indicated that keeping it that way was his opinion. Unless an official source names it Total War: Shogun II, and you can produce it, I'll leave it the way it is. --Byzantine Latinkon 00:28, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Total War: Shogun 2 Edit

How odd. A few months ago, I could've sworn that the Wikipedia article was titled 'Shogun 2: Total War'. --Byzantine Latinkon 21:23, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

Game Guides Edit

I think that guides in regards to playing as each faction can be implemented, as long as they have a link on the main faction page and are in a separate article.

Thanks, --Byzantine Latinkon 19:30, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Copyright Edit

When the copyright people come, I'll just say:

"It's all Fidei's fault" and they'll go away.

Hey, it rhimes. ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 19:32, April 4, 2011 (UTC)

Sir fidei defensor, how can i make the standard format in the Unit page,i currently do not have any exprience in doing those

Navbars Edit

Sure. YuriKaslov 22:14, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Mind telling me WHAT you need me to do? YuriKaslov 22:15, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Don't you think they'd look better as navboxes at the bottom of a page rather than navbars at the top? YuriKaslov 22:24, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to redesign them in a similar format to template:Games under a test name.
BTW soemthing I've noticed with "collapsation by default" is that you need multiple navboxes to get it to kick in. YuriKaslov 22:39, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, the navbox isn't stretching out the way it should. I don't see anything that would alter that, so I'm not sure what's going on there. However, I did improve the overall aesthetic. The color is horrible though, IMO. YuriKaslov 23:23, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Ahah, I fixed the width problem. See: Template:TWS2 test navbar. Ignore the black boxes to the left; I have absolutely no idea why those're there. YuriKaslov 23:27, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

how to actually get mogami/hatakyama clan Edit

you said you can get these clans by editing the game files how do you do it cuz theres no mod out tht says tht allows u to unlok different clans —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Qwertypo11296 (talkcontribs) on the 08/04/2011 at 03:50. Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Hold your horses, cowboy! Edit

You're going about the layout templates and category pages ALLLLLL wrong.

Category pages are used to merely categorize pages. You do not actually transcribe the information found in the pages being categorized.

Not always. See Lexicanum and the twcenter for examples of Category-Articles. I don't like them I hope they are tempory measure.

Layout templates have to (or at least, should be) in the "template:" namespace, not the content namespace. By the way, nobody will ever use those templates because there is no advertising for them. I could try and restart the create-box thing, but that would take absolutely forever. YuriKaslov 15:03, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

The templates aren't code templates they're style guides, the name is misleading. Your not ideally supposed to copy and paste from them or use them as blueprints (though I did anyway). Larger wikis don't have guide pages but in their stead have featured model pages, pages which are complete and live up to required quality.
Honestly, I don't think this kind of bureaucracy is that important right now. Leave them as they are. We don't have the time, as it where, for advertising our site/templates/projects. Beside The recent measures I've take are almost all temporary things. -this includes the navboxes.

M2TW units and M2TWK units Edit

For some units in Medieval II, there is an equivalent in Kingdoms. The equivalent usualy has slightly different stats and sometimes a different picture, but the description is the same. Should we make two separate pages for each or put them on the same page? ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 12:17, April 16, 2011 (UTC)

Well Edit

I'll see what I can do for you, but the game is pretty laggy on my computer. YuriKaslov 19:47, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

I can't get to it ATM. Tomorrow I should have more time to do what needs doing. YuriKaslov 19:53, April 17, 2011 (UTC)

Loading screen quotations Edit

As you may probably know already, on the loading screen of Total War games (that is, M2 and R, I don't know about others, and M doesn't have them) there are some quotes related to the subject at hand. For example, in the Teutonic campaign of M2TWK there are quotes showing the ranks in the Teutonic order. Should we put them on a special page or ignore them? I'll post those that I've gathered on my user page. ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 11:11, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

Empire Template Edit

Thank you for offering to make the Empire template. A few months ago I got Empire, and now, since my exams are over, I can start contributing again, and I have some Empire units ready to make articles of. ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 16:00, July 4, 2011 (UTC)

Your question on Spencer Latham's page Edit

Sorry to intrude in other people's bussiness, but:

1. Pergamum is, I think, a rebel province.

2. Thermon, Sparta and Syracuse are all part of the Greek Cities faction.

Empire Total War Units Edit

Thanks for letting me know. One thing:

The riflemen and light infantry units I'm thinking of putting in a category called: "Empire: Total War Skirmishers", or "Empire: Total War Light Infantry", since they are not melee or line infantry, and they perform skirmishing roles in battles. What do you think? ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 19:18, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

Edit: Grammar error. Also, what about Grenadier infantry?

You make things so simple, and so unbelievably complicated.

Will finish the rest of the British units tomorrow. It's getting late here, and I'm not sure what type some of the units are ( I took the screenshots from which I wrote them off from the Barracks screen, as such it doesn't say their type )

P.S.: Could you make several slight modifications to your template?

1. Ammunition is posted twice, first as "ammo" in the top, and then as "shots" in the bottom.

2. Could you change "attack skill" to "melee attack"? Ranged attack doesn't have something to measure by in Empire but melee does.

3. I'm not really sure there are still "hitpoints" in Empire. Could be wrong, I've seen some elephant units, and they may have it.

Thanks! ERE Video meliora proboque deteriora sequor (I see and approve of the better, but I follow the worse) (talk contribs) 19:45, July 21, 2011 (UTC)

I don't know how dead this wiki is, but I have just single-handedly created every unit page for the units still missing. I will be using your infobox, and I'm pretty sure that there is no hitpoint or armor statistic in empire total war. I have revised your infobox somewhat. If you're interested in helping me finish this job or disagree with my revisions, please contact me. Brainwasher5 (talk) 00:04, April 2, 2013 (UTC)

uhhh, ammo was for ammunition types I think. As for Hitpoints, hitpoints is an internal game mechanic that determines the durability of an individual solider, most have 1 Hitpoint. It's been in the series since Rome TW. -- - Fidei Defensor - 16:37, April 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not a mod developer for TW, I found this on heaven that explains it better:

Praise the heavens! Edit

So this wiki isn't dead! My apologies regarding hitpoints, I didn't know about it earlier. Please, edit it at your leisure. In the mean time I'll be adding the infobox to all the ETW unit pages.

Regarding your infobox: I'm talking about "armour", not "ammo". Is armour the same stat as hitpoints, or is it a different stat altogether? I know that some units have armour and are specifically mentioned to wear armour, do they have a hidden bonus to defense? As for ammo, we do have an overlap with "shots" vs "ammo", unless there's some hidden information about that too.

If most units have 1 hp and only some have 2 or 3, I don't think it's necessary to have hitpoint as a stat in the box; we just have to make a note that x unit or y unit has 2 or 3 hitpoints in their respective general information sections. Brainwasher5 (talk) 14:47, April 8, 2013 (UTC)

Seriously, I can't remember a thing any more. Most the infobox titles were derived from a Japanese Modding site which ripped numbers from the game data. Do as you please, I'm retired. -- - Fidei Defensor - 02:31, April 28, 2013 (UTC)
If you're interested in any more constructive, meaningful work, me and some other former total war wiki editors have moved on to Empire: Total War wiki, where we are recruiting.

do we really need an individuil page for each factions peasent example peasent(Macedon) or peasent (greece) we should just combine it into 1 big page telling what factions can recruit them
