These warriors are a step up from the spear-toting Warband of Britannia. Swordsmen are better suited against other foot warriors, but their lack of spears makes them susceptible to cavalry. They are, like most barbarian warriors, just as poor at following orders as anyone else - even more so, in fact, since they feel the need to prove their prowess in battle.
Swordsmen should make up the bulk of the Brittannia army and are the backbone of their armies they are superior to most of the other infantry choice with the Woad Warriors having weaknesses that stop them being the line infantry of Britannia, being more akin to Naked Fanatics. They are able to go toe to toe with more powerful infantry units such as the Roman legionaries, with morale playing a key role.
Swordsmen are steadfast and aggressive warriors, the infantry of the line for barbarian warlords. They are not very disciplined at times, as their sense of honour and bravery can make them eager to get into any fray, but they are uniformly superb swordsmen. They are equipped with good swords and large shields. Every warlord worth the name makes sure he has a couple of warbands of these hard swordsmen under his command.
