Brittany spawns if a rebellion is successful in the region of the same name and Rennes, or if liberated. Rennes is a fairly small region with only a farm and a port, but Brittany's proximity to France's capital and its animosity with France can make it a dangerous force if left unchecked.
One trick when playing as France is to give Rennes or Britanny away to an enemy faction, then liberate it, thereby creating Britanny as a protectorate, turning it into a reliable trading partner. In most cases, this generates more income than outright controlling a region, particularly if France's trade fleets are large and well-protected.
Brittany has a very limited roster of average units, lacking grenadiers, skirmishers, elite infantry, or lancers. It has the standard minor faction artillery and ship roster.
- The flag used by Brittany is the Kroaz Du, however, this is anachronistic as this flag was used in the middle ages and was largely forgotten after the French Revolution.
